A tow truck operator who died of a medical problem while driving and crashed into a car was identified by police Friday as Gary Watson, 53, of Lauderhill, police said.
Watson had a medical condition that caused him to crash Wednesday and ultimately killed him, Police Sgt. Frank Sousa said.
The Lauderhill man worked several years at Touch of Class Towing in Fort Lauderdale, said manager Karl Waith.
No one else was reported hurt after Watson lost control of his vehicle.
Watson's tow truck struck a white Honda Civic, driven by Artino Joseph, 79, just west of State Road A1A on Northeast 34th Street.
Joseph said he was in the Civic and was stopped at a traffic light on Northeast 34th Street when the truck hit the side of his vehicle.
