An intrepid tow-truck driver helped cops bust a carjacking crew, authorities said yesterday.
Armed with a police scanner and gumption, the driver heard a call about a robbery in progress in Rego Park just before midnight Thursday.
A group of men had allegedly approached the owner of a 2008 Cadillac Escalade on Wetherole Street at gunpoint, demanding his cellphone and ordering him out of the car, police said.
But they didn't know the tow-truck driver had raced to the scene and began tailing them.
The tow-truck driver flagged down a marked police car on the Jackie Robinson Parkway and told cops what he witnessed.
Cops eventually found the stolen car in East New York, Brooklyn, and recovered two guns.
The suspects -- Michael McDermott, 21, Carnell Fugett, 22, and Akeem Forrest, 20 -- were arrested and are being eyed in eight carjackings, including five last month alone.
