JOHNSBURG—A tow truck operator assisted in the arrest of a Thurman man for driving while intoxicated Tuesday night after a vehicle involved in an accident left the scene.
Keith P. Tyler, 29, of William J. Baker Rd., Thurman, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after it was found he had a blood alcohol content of .18%. He has a prior DWI conviction from 2005.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a property damage accident on Route 8 and Peaceful Valley Road in the Town of Johnsburg about 10:30 p.m. Prior to the arrival of the police, a tow service already at the scene of the accident contacted Sheriff’s dispatch to advise that the vehicle involved was leaving the scene east on Route 8.
The tow service was able to direct the sheriff’s patrol to the South Johnsburg Road where the vehicle was last seen turning.
A sheriff’s officer located and stopped Black Dodge Dakota pickup truck that was observed being operated erratically on South Johnsburg road and without tail lights.
It was determined that Tyler was the operator of the vehicle and was subsequently arrested. 6-30-10
